Bolling explained when guests walk into Aloft, they can’t help but notice the local art displayed through the entire lobby, refuel/pantry area, business center and guest floors. Each painting on display has been provided by local talent to showcase their work and promote the piece for sale. Aloft also carries local brews in W XYZ Bar and Lounge to keep craft beer enthusiasts happy while offering a great conversation starter for guests looking for fun things to do. Aloft is within walking distance to the convention center, several corporate headquarters and the State House. Retail businesses and restaurants flood the area, including Coa Agaveria Y Cocina, Blue Marlin, Pearlz Oyster Bar, Motor Supply Company Bistro, Jason’s Deli, Old Chicago, smallSUGAR, Poke Bros. and others.

To ensure the safety of guests and staff, Aloft introduced electrostatic spraying in all public spaces and high-touch points, as well as sanitization of all guest room keys. Bolling explained that rooms are cleaned with extra care and consideration, while room service is not offered unless requested directly by guests.

She continued the conversation, sharing how the hotel’s convenient location in the heart of the Main Street District provides Holiday Inn guests with an immersive experience of Columbia. Guests can wake up on Saturday morning and walk to the Soda City Market, Columbia’s weekly Main Street event inspired by traditional European street markets that showcases food, beverages and local artists. Guests will soak up Hotel Trundle from the aroma of fresh-roasted coffee, to the comforting craftsmanship of the custom beds and mattresses, to the captivating sight of local artwork. Hotel Trundle has created a whimsical and magical environment with their hospitality, unique amenities and connection to the local Columbia culture. The hotel’s location gives guests an authentic experience of what life on Columbia’s Main Street is like for locals. Hotel Trundle also offers discounts for families visiting their students at the University of South Carolina.

Patel serves as an owner and Guest Experience Designer for the hotel. She explained that guests are welcomed with bubbly beverages and snacks, a favorite tradition and great way to kick off the guest experience. Hotel Trundle is walking distance from many family-friendly restaurants and fun activities including Soda City Market, bowling, the library and an arcade. The hotel is also a short drive from a national park, two state parks and the Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Munse explained how Hotel Trundle has introduced a remote concierge service via text messages as well as a contactless guest registration that happens prior to check-in. Staff have paused entering rooms after guests have checked in while guests can request additional clean linens through a quick text message.
